David Gregory Byrne

Composer David Gregory Byrne cites Maurice Ravel, John Coltrane, John Lennon and the great film scores of Bernard Herrmann and Nino Rota as some of his strongest influences. His unique sound - at turns nostalgic, dramatic, and idiosyncratic - are a reflection of this eclectic group.

As a composer and multi-instrumentalist Byrne has shown his range in projects like "Pittsburgh", a docu-comedy about Jeff Golblum leaving Hollywood to play Harold Hill in a regional theater production of "The Music Man", and in the jazz and pop-inflected score to "Shut up and Shoot". Recent credits include, scoring the CBS web series "How to Survive a Horror Movie", scoring David Katzenberg's well received short "The Tale of RJ", and scoring one of the segments of the VH-1's "Acceptable TV".

In addition to his film scoring work, Byrne has earned extensive credits as an orchestrator, arranger and composer in New York City and Los Angeles. His work as an arranger was most recently heard in last summer's number one rated show "America's Got Talent". In addition to his film and TV work, his music has been performed by ensembles as varied as The United States Army Orchestra, The New York Miniaturist Ensemble, The Glamazons, The Weston Playhouse, and Raw Impressions Music Theater. Venues featuring his works include The Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), The Wharton School of Business, The Dutton Family Theatre, La MaMa e.t.c. and Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center. Byrne holds a Masters of Musical Composition from The University of Michigan, where he studied with Pulitzer-Prize-winning composer William Bolcom.

Armed with a witty sense of humor, Smitty's shares his passion for God to all ages and sometimes uses cool words like "plethora." Dan has a unique perspective on faith because he didn''t grow up in a religious home. He came to his conclusions about Jesus when he was a 15-year-old hellion in Toledo, Ohio. Dan spends much of his spare time taking walks with his lovely wife, Shannon, his only begotten son, Zion, and his baby girl, Azlan. Contrary to rumor, Dan never fought in the Clone Wars. His favorite color is off-white. Find out more at www.whiteboyDJ.com.
